Kenton Dunson Comes Out On 'Top'

Maryland native Kenton Dunson is having a good year. After leaving an investment firm in 2010 to pursue music full-time, he set out to make a name for himself -- and is doing quite a good job of it. The June 2011 release of his third album Creative Destruction 2 has garnered over 100,000 (!!) downloads. He's among the bevy of artists (Phil Adé, Wale, Raheem DeVaughn) cultivating the DMV style past go-go -- and ultimately putting the uhrea area on the map. Not one to rest on his laurels, Dunson still has music to share with the masses. His new joint "Top of the World" is a trippy, electronic experience, that blended with his mellow lyrics makes the song strangely appropriate for slow grinding. The jazzy piano run at the end is quite enjoyable as well, giving the feeling that all is not lost in the fizz and pop of 808's and synthesizers. Oh, and it's free, too. Check and see if it leaves you feeling like you're at the top of the world.
