Gotta Makes You 'Think Aloud' With His Stories

Sometimes the musical gods are on our side, offering a helping hand when our own overloaded minds let us down. A case in point is French pianist/composer/producer Gotta (aka Philippe Arcostanzo) who I first heard featured on Tokyo Dawn's faultless The Heart Volume 2. I made both mental and physical notes to check him out, but, as often happens, life got in the way. So imagine my surprise when earlier this week an email appeared in my inbox from the very man himself, telling me about his latest release, Think Aloud (Session I). The EP features four talented vocalists pulled from the four corners of the globe: Danish vocalist Lene Riebau adds a sprinkling of Badu-esque jazz to "Story I (Living Together)," Filipino Thor guests on the smooth-as-hell "Story II (Just A Child)," "Story III (Soulmate)" is a beautiful spoken-word piece from Houston's Samadhi, and "Story IV (Special Encounter)" features French vocalist Last Spirit getting his D'Angelo on. My only complaint is that, running at less than 20 minutes, the EP is over far too quickly.
