Vivian Green Sings A 'Freedom' Song

It's only fitting that on the day that we commemorate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to get a taste of the soundtrack to the film Soundtrack For a Revolution. This collection of remakes of freedom songs by contemporary artists is already sounding like it's going to be a must-own when it's released on February 14th. Although not listed on the original tracklisting, this remake of "Oh Freedom" by Vivian Green is quite a lovely addition to and a fitting first single for the project. Green takes the well-known Negro spiritual and modernizes it but still takes us to church with a commanding performance. The song's updated transformation is impressive, but it remains a gospel song at its heart with a salient -- and relevant -- message.
