Frank Ocean Has More To 'Tell'

I know what you're thinking, yet another post about Frank Ocean from SoulBounce's resident Ocean-ographer, but this one truly merited mentioning. In the flurry of videos from this past weekend's performance at Coachella, where he performed quite a few songs, from "American Wedding" to new track "Forrest Gump," was an unexpected gem. Frank opened his set with a cover of Lauryn Hill's "Tell Him," a bonus cut from her much-celebrated The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The song, which was written so that it could be interpreted to be about a lover or, you know, HIM, was a great choice for the singer-songwriter. One, it's something very similar to what we've come to expect from Frank (honestly, a comparison could be made of both his and Lauryn's songwriting styles). Two, the song works well with with Frank's vocal stylings. Does it rival Lauryn's own rendition? Not quite. But that doesn't change the fact that his version is one I'd gladly make room for in my music collection.
