Karriem Riggins Wants You To Know That He 'Produced That'

Karriem Riggins has remained somewhat of an unsung hero in spite of his impressive body of work as a jazz drummer and hip-hop producer. Well in anticipation of his forthcoming solo album, Alone Together, the Detroit native has crafted a project to help us all get familiar. Karriem Riggins Produced That features a decade's worth of cuts from SoulBounce faves The Roots, Talib Kweli, Common and Erykah Badu among others. I must admit that I didn't quite recognize Karriem's Kevin Bacon status in the urban music scene until I was reminded of 50 Cent's reworked version of the Slum Village and Dwele single "Tainted" midway through the podcast. Fiddy hopping on one of your tracks, even for a remix, surely extends your degrees of separation to the far corners of the hip-hop landscape. This as well as several drops throughout the mix suggest that this gentleman has been well received throughout the community and rightfully so. Download the podcast via the Stones Throw website, and look out for Alone Together, which hits stores this fall.
