It's always nice to see people who you actually know making their musical dreams come true. Although I've only met Chicago-based singer Kenya McGuire Johnson, who performs as Kenya, a few times, I actually went to undergrad with her husband and she's always been a sweetheart whenever we've interacted. I didn't learn until later that Kenya had soulful aspirations, and she already has an EP to her credit with her debut project, Starting Over. Now Kenya has released her first music video for the song "Never the Less," and it's great to see and hear her in action on the joyful love song. Kenya and her video beau are seen taking in the sights of my favorite city and simply enjoying each other's company while shots of her singing solo and with a band are mixed in for good measure. I'd say that this is a great introduction to Kenya and her vocal talents.
