As an unashamed fan of the soap opera that is Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, right now I am watching a marathon of this season's shenanigans prepping for the season finale tonight on VH1. I don't know if my heart can take all these hours of reality ratchetry today, but I'm balancing it out by listening to good music during the commercial breaks. (Hey, don't judge me!) Lo and behold one of the featured songs on the fifth episode of LHHATL is one that also landed in my inbox this afternoon, so I thought that was a sign to give it a full listen. I have to say that I'm glad that I pressed play on Midian's "Bitter" because she's singing some real relationship talk on this track. Midian's debut single finds her lamenting over a love lost to another, and dammit she's bitter as she sits alone in her big empty home. Yeah, I can totally relate to this. Her voice is strong and soulful and one that I'd like to hear more from. If you're in the Los Angeles area, you can hear Midian for yourself live at Hotel Cafe tonight and tomorrow night at The Sayers Club.
