SoulBounce regulars will be familiar with our love affair with all things Tokyo Dawn Records. Flying the flag for indie labels, TDR are one of the most consistent outfits out there, whether delivering quality compilations (The Heart) or albums from their carefully selected roster of artists (Amalia, Opolopo, Vindahl), a new release is always guaranteed quality. Their latest compilation release, The Boogie Volume 3, follows on where The Boogie Volume 1 and The Boogie Volume 2 left off, delivering a delectable selection of the finest funk and boogie on offer today. What sets Volume 3 apart from its predecessors is its focus on more hip-hop orientated tracks, rather than the soul/R&B on earlier volumes, but we will take TDR's Boogie any way we can get it. Highlights include Rakotep's "Get Up" (a collaboration between Stacy Epps and Astronote) and Amalia and Reggie B's synth-driven "Hysteria." You can get your hands on The Boogie Volume 3 now via TDR's official website.
