Joe Goddard Delivers A Hot Remix Of Jessie Ware's 'Night Light'

Jessie Ware's Devotion is still in pretty much constant rotation, whether it be at home, in my car or on my iPod. Whatever your mood, there is a song to suit it, but one track I gravitate to daily is "Night Light." In fact, I'm at risk of listening to it too much, and ultimately growing to dislike it. With that in mind, Joe Goddard's (of Hot Chip fame) remix of the track has landed right on time. The collaboration came about as part of the Bacardi Beginnings project, in which a selection of established music figures were given a £10,000 bursary to push a new artist of their choice (British indie-rock/electronica outfit Friendly Fires will be re-imagining AlunaGeorge's "Your Drums, Your Love" as part of the project too). Joe chose Jessie after someone mentioned her name to him, and the two set up shop in the studio to work their magic. The remix keeps the original's dark, atmospheric feel, but adds an electro-disco punch, placing it firmly on the dance floor. It's rare that a remix stands up to the original but, for me at least, Joe manages to pull it off.
