Ab's 'Forecast' Is Bright

Picture this: It was 2009 and I am in a club with my friends. We had our adult beverages in hand and were enjoying life when all of a sudden this new jam comes on. It was similar to Jamie Foxx's hit "Blame It" with the Auto-Tune, but had two women dominating the verse. Then, the song got to the chorus and we froze. At that point we realized that it was Mary Mary's "God In Me." Now, there is nothing wrong with that song because it goes hard, but my mind was in a completely different place. Memories of that moment flooded back upon hearing Aaron "Ab" Abernathy's "Forecast." This jam starts off sensual -- almost reminiscent of a Carl Thomas or Maxwell record -- but you soon realize that record has a welcomed, deeper meaning. Understanding this new meaning, my subsequent listens were just as enjoyable. Ab says that this song "highlights the opportunity received in each new day." With a new year upon us, I will definitely keep this in rotation as I work on defining my 2013. This song does not shy away from contemporary R&B production and the message feels very organic. I would very much welcome an album of R&B/inspirational songs in this vein. If this is the beginning of Ab's journey in 2013, I am excited to see where it leads.
