Float Away On Bonobo's 'Cirrus'

It's been almost three years since Bonobo released his finest album to date, the wonderfully atmospheric Black Sands. In fact, 2010 was a landmark year for the British DJ/producer as, not only did Black Sands gain much acclaim thanks to standout singles "The Keeper" and "Eyesdown," he also oversaw the debut album of fellow Brit and label-mate Andreya Triana, who had provided guest vocals on both aforementioned singles. On April 1st, Bonobo will release his fifth studio album entitled The North Borders, and if the first single "Cirrus" is anything to go by, he has another winner on his hands. The downtempo gem's combination of xylophone, skittering drums and hazy synths give rise to a track which, along with the retro-centric animated video courtesy of Cyriak, is easy to get lost in. The album is up for pre-order now via Ninja Tune but, with no tracklist as yet, we can't tell if he will revisit his winning partnership with Andreya. Here's hoping.
