Miguel's 'Candles' Shine A Light On The World's Ills

Miguel might be more known for his songs about love and sex, but the diminutive R&B star is just as adept at being socially conscious. To that effect, he's made a video for his track "Candles in the Sun." The song, the only selection on 2012's Kaleidoscope Dream that doesn't deal with matters of the heart (or bedroom), is Miguel's "What's Going On" moment in which he questions why exactly things in the world have to be the way they are today. For the video's clip, the crooner opts for a simple, black-and-white treatment that finds him performing on an empty soundstage. While Miguel performs, a plethora of images are flashed throughout -- taking the viewer from the church to the streets and all walks of life in between. It's a powerful message and an insightful moment for the singer, one that hints that there's a deeper soul beneath Miguel's loverman exterior.
