I'm not a fan of fruit-flavored gum. After the initial flavor burst, let about 10-15 minutes pass and you're chewing on something staler than Tyler Perry's scripts. However, I am a fan of Justin Timberlake again, and he has me fiending for some of his "Strawberry Bubblegum" after watching his latest Justin Timberweek showing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In another world premiere performance of a new track from The 20/20 Experience, Justin and The Tennessee Kids mellowed it out on this jam, another of my early favorites from the album. JT's upper register got a nice workout on this flirty song about the rush of young love. He even broke us off with a few dance moves that set everything off just right. Quite honestly, I could have done without his dancers because I thought he was doing just fine by himself. That minor non-factor aside, this was a warm and inviting performance that has me ready to rethink my stance, buy a pack of strawberry Bubble Yum this weekend and flirt with a cutie or two with this as the soundtrack.
