Prince Rocks ‘Screwdriver’ & ‘Bambi’ On ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’

Last Friday night's episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was quite the superstar-studded affair. Between an appearance by Mariah Carey and musical guest Prince, Jimmy Fallon had the big and little joker in the late-night TV game of spades. Mariah unfortunately didn't sing, but Prince's performance of two rock 'em sock 'em songs was enough to make you overlook that. Backed by the three-piece, all-girl band 3rdEyeGirl, the newly natural Prince wielded his axe and chopped into his cheeky new single "Screwdriver." But it was on his second selection "Bambi," taken from his 1979 sophomore album For You, that he absolutely, positively, indubitably shut it down. The guitar hero was feeling it so much that at the end of the song he threw the guitar in the air and it came crashing down to the floor when no one caught it. We doubt that Captain Kirk of The Roots who he borrowed it from minded having to get a new one. If you're gonna lose a guitar you might as well lose it to Prince. The man of the hour will start a West coast tour in April, and after seeing Prince's command of Fallon's stage it proves that he is still an unfunkwithable force to be reckoned with.

I was getting a very '80s punk vibe with Screwdriver, even more so than Bambi which was from the era--lol. The Purple One is so talented and such a lover of music and musicians. He is not genre-bound.
