Let's face it, if producer/DJ/label-head and all round tastemaker Gilles Peterson deems something hot, then the rest of the world should sit up and listen. The man was responsible for the explosion of the British acid jazz scene a few decades ago, and since then he has gone on to champion some of the best underground talent around, including a young José James and jazz darling Zara McFarlane. Newly signed to his Brownswood Recordings stable are British duo Anushka, comprised of producer Max Wheeler and singer/songwriter Victoria Port, who deliver a lovely slice of electro-house on their debut single "Yes Guess." Max's urgent, bass and snare-heavy production is the perfect vehicle for Victoria's delicate vocals, and it sounds right at home amongst the new wave of British dance music. Their three-track EP, also entitled Yes Guess, will be available April 15th.
