Beyoncé Finally Gets 'Grown'

Where's the single? That's been our constant cry when it comes to Beyoncé and her latest campaign for complete media saturation. Well it looks like we finally got our wish...sorta. Last night, the tour version of "Grown Woman" (that's the Timbaland-produced track that we first heard in her Pepsi commercial) surfaced and set the Internet ablaze. Though it's suspicious that this track leaked as Bey and hubby Jay-Z are fending off pregnancy rumors, I'm sure this has absolutely nothing to do with diverting our attention. Besides, I'm not looking a gift camel in the mouth. If you've had the chance to check out fan footage of her concert, you're more than likely familiar with this version as she's been performing it on the European leg of her tour. But for those of us not in the Beyhive, this recorded tour version is actually pretty hot. Doubling down on the (very) slight Afrobeat influence of "End of Time," the tour version of "Grown Woman" is a funky, percussive jam that finds Bey espousing that she can "do whatever I want." And "whatever" includes talking about getting erotic, her "cute face" and "booty so phat." Grown, indeed. And, though she still seems to be into checking whoever she imagines to be coming for her throne, at least this time it's actually fun and not as tedious a listen as "Bow Down/I Been On." Seeing as Sony and Bey are yanking any instances of this down with a quickness, I'd suggest you'd get your listen on right now.
