Booker T & Mayer Hawthorne 'Sound The Alarm'

R&B legend Booker T. Jones' work with The Roots introduced him to a new generation, and for his new album, Sound the Alarm, Booker uses the tried and true method of enlisting current popular singers and artists on the project. Not the least of which is blue-eyed soul brother Mayer Hawthorne for the title track. Booker embraces the new school not just by employing Hawthorne but by using sampling and other studio techniques. Even without the tricks, the song is pure anthemic bliss complete with a gospel choir. It's not so much a song as it is a sonic proclamation that the genius and his organ has returned (ironically to the label he helped build, Stax). "Sound the Alarm" makes a statement that legends never go out of style. Check out the Sound the Alarm tracklist after the bounce to see who else will guest on the album when it drops on June 25th.
