Aaron 'Ab' Abernathy & Phonte Have 'All This Love' Waiting For You

Aaron "Ab" Abernathy has kept quite busy in 2013, releasing a steady stream of music since the top of the year and performing at the exclusive High Note Concert Series events in the DMV. And June isn't even over yet. The second half of the year is days away and more soulful goodness is on the way from Ab with the release of his next EP, Prologue Vol. II, on July 11th. If Prologue Vol. II is anywhere near as hot as last summer's scorcher Prologue Vol. I, then we're in for a serious treat. That's pretty evident from the sound of the first single, a remake of the DeBarge classic "All This Love" featuring The Foreign Exchange member and SoulBounce fave Phonte. The almost unrecognizable cover kicks off with a hot 16 from Tay who returns later on the track as a bookend to Abernathy's funked up vocals. This song knocks, which is something you can't really say about the syrupy sweet original, and that's thanks in large part to Black Milk who holds it down on percussion. Rounding out this unique take on the song is Nat Turner bassist Malik Hunter. We should be used to Ab's taking other artist's songs and putting his own stank on them, but he never ceases to impress as he and Phonte do here. Mark July 11th on your calendars for more when Prologue Vol. II drops, and if you're in the Washington, DC area and want to see Aaron and Nat Turner live and direct then make plans to attend the High Note Series Vol. III on Thursday, July 18th.
