Gregory Porter To Release 'Liquid Spirit' This September

Gregory Porter is a man on a mission. After releasing his critically acclaimed debut, Water, back in 2011 and wowing fans of both soul and jazz in the process, he returned a year later with his GRAMMY-nominated set Be Good, a step-up from his debut, and an album which we suspect will go on to be called a "classic" in years to come. Not wanting to break momentum, Porter will be releasing his third album in as many years, Liquid Spirit, on September 17th, and this time around he will be releasing it via the legendary Blue Note label, home to fellow jazz vanguards José James and Robert Glasper. The 14-track LP will include 10 Porter originals alongside a cover of the jazz standard "I Fall In Love Too Easily" as well as Abbey Lincoln's "Lonesome Lover" and Ramsey Lewis' "The 'In' Crowd." While we are yet to get a taste of the project, Porter tantalizingly describes the album's title-track as "a rousing, hand-clapping gospel-jazz romp, dealing with replenishing 'thirsty' listeners with more substantial music." We're sold.
