Joshua Worden's 'Marrow' Cuts To The Bone

Sometimes I fear that the R&B love ballad might be going the way of the dodo. Then, just when I've given up on finding more than just slow jams, there comes someone like Atlanta R&B singer Joshua Worden with a stunning gem like "Marrow." Taken from his just released full-length debut Always This, "Marrow" is a simply stunning work of songwriting. The poetic lyrics ("We're living slow/deep rivers flow/over stones so old/these faded bones/breath," he sings during the chorus) drip with imagery against the song's lush synth and simple drums. They all work together to showcase Joshua's rich falsetto, which is perhaps one of the better ones I've heard in modern R&B. "Marrow" is a standout from Always This, but the album's blend of R&B, pop and jazz has a treasure trove of music and strong songwriting to offer. Stream "Marrow" below and head to Joshua's Bandcamp page to purchase your copy of Always This not now, but right now.
