'Sober' Up With Elli Ingram's Debut EP

Elli Ingram immediately won cool points when she snatched up and did a TKO on Kendrick Lamar's "Poetic Justice," literally twisting it into her own creation and, in my little opinion, made it superior to the original source. From there the question arose of where this Brighton-bred songstress was going to take a now captive audience next, and well, the answer is nestled right on her debut EP, Sober. Ingram pretty much takes us up, down and all around, as her spunk and knack for eclecticism are exercised fully. Producers Felix Joseph and Rudi Redz, give Ingram lots of room to wiggle into various genres and she doesn't bat an eye at the variance. Whether she's jazzy chill on the title track, ladylike and pensive on ballad "Fun," swooning for bad boys in "Mad Love" or getting rowdy n' screwed on the hip-hop infused "High Love," Ingram excels seamlessly and makes for a six-track EP that is just far too short and slight to contain all of her alluring style. Still if anybody needed a wake-up call to this chanteuse's talent, consider yourself now fully aware and plugged in with this great set. Take Sober for a spin after the bounce, and scoop up the free download at Ellie Ingram's official web spot while the gettin' is still good.
