Blitz The Ambassador Is An 'African In New York'

Blitz the Ambassador is an "African in New York," literally. The Ghanaian-American rapper takes you on a New York City tour through the eyes of an African migrant on his latest single. If you've been to New York, you've seen a number of Africans selling "designer" bags at various corners, but there's more to the migrant story. While telling tales of the African hustle, which includes code-switching, Blitz gives a shout out to the beautiful African women often seen walking the runway at New York Fashion Week and also enlightens us on where we can find the best jollof rice in the city (apparently in the Bronx). Blitz, who moved to the city after graduating from Kent State University in Ohio, has made a name for himself in Ghana and continues to gain popularity in America. Speaking of other popular Africans, Akeem and Semmi from Coming to America serve as the perfect artwork for the single. Along with a sound bite from the movie, Blitz also samples a bar from Jay Z's "99 Problems" and adds a spirited guitar and instrumentation that gives you a taste of African music. If you're looking for a sample of contemporary African hip hop, this is it. Could this be African migrants' summer anthem?
