It's been five long years since we had a new project from Ethiopian-American songstress Wayna. Her last outing, 2008's Higher Ground, was chock-full of bright and breezy R&B and smooth soul all helmed by a distinctive vocal that often draws comparisons to the late, great Minnie Riperton (Wayna even covered "Loving You" for the set). This October will see Wayna finally release her follow-up to Higer Ground, The Expats, named after the diverse group of international musicians and producers who worked on the project. With contributions from across the globe -- Ethiopia, Japan, Israel, India, Germany and Jamaica are all represented -- the EP is surely to be a melting pot of soulful sounds and styles. The first single from the project, "I Don't Wanna Wait," is produced by German beatsmith FARHOT and sees Wayna drawing influences from Motown, hip hop and Bob Marley to give us a summery celebration of living life to it's fullest.
