Meshell Ndegeocello Presents 'Suzanne' With A Little Help From Her Fans

Meshell Ndegeocello's most recent album Pour une âme souveraine is a most-fitting tribute to legendary soul and jazz legend Nina Simone. For the set's latest visuals, Meshell chose Nina's Leonard Cohen cover "Suzanne." But instead of opting for the more traditional approach, Meshell enlisted help from her fans to make the video happen. Inspired by a lyric in the song (in particular a reference to "a place by the river"), Meshell asked fans to submit photos of their own places by the river to be included in the clip. She incorporates the photos into beautiful backdrops as she appears sparingly in the clip. It's a fitting interpretation for such a quiet, simple and loving song.
