The Decoders have been on one with their releases of Minnie Riperton covers that will make up their Adventures From Paradise Vol. 3. After masterful takes on "Completeness," "Young, Willing & Able," "Reasons" and (my personal fave) "What Cha' Gonna Do For Me," the crew returns with our favorite UK soul diva Alice Russell for a spiced-up take on Minnie's "Adventures In Paradise." What makes it "spiced-up" you ask? Well, The Decoders took away '70s funk of the original and infused it with a spicy Afro-Latin groove full of horns, pulsing percussion and lush piano. But what really sells this effort is, of course, Alice's amazing vocal. At once invoking the spirit of Minnie and putting her own stamp on the soulful classic, Alice takes command of the song like only a seasoned professional can. With all this goodness surfacing from the project, we're can't wait for Adventures From Paradise Vol. 3 to get here.
