The mysterious and masked SBTRKT has had us rocking ever since he released his self-titled debut way back in 2011. But before collaborating with a who's who of international vocalists, much of SBTRKT's early work was solely instrumental. As he readies his upcoming sophomore set, the DJ/producer has decided to return back to his instrumental roots for his new EP Transitions. A six-song set, the EP features some inspired work from SBTRKT that he's been releasing as separate tracks throughout the year. Each track uses samples, synths, drum machines and found sounds to create interesting and intricate individual soundscapes. Grouped together, however, each of the tracks takes on a surprising new life, with each pairing seemingly speaking to its corresponding track. If the Transitions EP is this good, we can only have high hopes for what SBTRKT will be bringing to us with his next full-length release.
