Kelis Gets Savory With Her 'Friday Fish Fry'

Kelis White Dress

Kelis served us up something tasty when she delivered her latest album, FOOD, this past April. And now, as the songstress tours in support of the project, she's breaking us off with another morsel.

"Friday Fish Fry" has the mood of a raucous night at a southern juke joint, with Kelis' signature blend of rasp and sass taking center stage. "Alright, daddy the games are over," the songstress sings on the down-home tune before getting hot and heavy on the song's chorus, demanding that the object of her affection gives her what she wants amid western-sounding guitar riffs and southern-fried horns. But, just before things get a little too hot to handle, Kelis smooths it out with a call-and-response plea for a tall, cool drink of water. Trust when I say this is probably one of the more musically interesting things the genre chameleon has done.

Is your mouth watering yet? It should be, because the track is only a mere appetizer of the full-course meal that is FOOD, which is in stores now. Pull up a seat and and get ready to dig in to "Friday Fish Fry" right here.
