BenZel & Stevie Neale Lament On 'Wasted Love'

We should have known that BenZel's backstory -- two Japanese teenagers who were still at school -- didn't quite ring true but we were so enamored with "Say It," their Jessie Ware-assisted take on Brownstone's "If You Love Me," we took what they said at face value. It has since surfaced that BenZel actually comprises two well known producers, Benny Blanco and Two Inch Punch, who are currently busy executive producing Jessie Ware's upcoming Tough Love album, but they have managed to find the time to cook up another single, this time assisted by as-yet-unknown vocalist Stevie Neale.

Similar to "Say It" and follow-up single "Fallin' Love," "Wasted Love" is a smooth, modern slice of R&B that gives a nod back to the duo's '90s roots while sounding right at home amongst the re-emerging R&B scene. The blend of Stevie Neale's honeyed vocals and the distorted background vocals provided by BenZel add a nice contrast, while the track's deceptively complex beat draws the listener in to its blissful embrace.
