While singer Chrisette Michele may have rubbed some viewers the wrong way during her stint this season on R&B Divas: Los Angeles, she did right by me with the release of her latest single, "Super Chris." The jazzy, soulful number, on which Chrisette exposes her innermost most thoughts on insecurity and self-acceptance, finds the singer back in fine form as she delivers the sound that we came to know her for on her debut, 2007's I Am.
For the track's video, we get a simple, black-and-white visual that juxtaposes Chrisette singing the song with a graceful dancer. And that's pretty much it. Still, the simple approach works, as it gets you to really pay attention to the song's lyrics and take in its message of self-love and acceptance for who you are. It's also enough to get me interested in what other sounds will come our way from the singer when she releases her upcoming album, The Lyricist's Opus, which has yet to receive an official release date but is sure to be highly anticipated.
