If you haven't seen KimberlyNichole do her thing on stage, then you, my friend, are missing out on witnessing something great. The feisty rock and soul singer was a featured artist at Harlem Stage's Uptown Nights series last Friday and showed up and showed out like only she could. After an introduction from genre-bender Tamar-kali, KimNicky took the stage clad in a scarlet tutu, her grandfather's black fedora and red suede open-toed booties as she proceeded to rock the crowd's world.

The Seattle native gave the audiences a few tastes of her gestating new album with songs like the raucous "Veruca Salt" and also went through a bevy of her other songs like "Carnival," "Little Girl New" and the emotional "No One Seems to Call." But she didn't just stick to her own catalog. She also ripped the stage with amazing covers of classics like "Come Together" (which she was sure to emphasize was the Ike and Tina Turner version and not The Beatles') and The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army." And for all those in the crowd who grew up in the '90s, she ended her set with 4 Non Blondes' "What's Up."

Though it was bitterly cold outside, KimberlyNichole left the crowd with enough of her fiery personality to keep them warm many nights to come.
