We caught up with Oakland-bred crooner Adrian Marcel, on the first stop of a six-city tour with Elle Varner. We sat down with Adrian at Washington, DC's Howard Theatre right before he warmed up the stage and gave the audience his West Coast brand of R&B. The Raphael Saadiq protégé has gained many listening ears with his mixtapes, 7 Days Of Weak and Weak After Next, and early next year he'll be releasing his debut album, Got Me F'd Up.

There's more to the crooner than his always-in-place hair and handsome face. The young artist has a palpable maturity that's somewhat unexpected considering he's only 24 years young and his confidence is refreshing. With a high level of self-awareness and unlimited humor, we found out more about Adrian's inspiration, why he doesn't like sleeping alone, his passion for soul food and, of course, love.
