Coultrain Brings His 'Kiss Of Death' To Life

Coultrain Kiss of Death Still

Coultrain recently released his latest EP, Side Effex of Make Believe; divided for love's sake, a trippy, heady mix of R&B that we've been telling you about for a while now. We've been in love with his singles from the set, including the moody first single "Kiss Of Death," which gets an equally moody and avant-guard new video treatment.

In the clip, we see a lady dancing beautifully in a gravel-covered courtyard as a mysterious, masked onlooker watches while holding two roses. The two never interact throughout the video's less-than-three-minute runtime, yet there seems to be something palpable going on between the two. A ceremony? A seduction? The audience is never clued in to what it all really means. But as cryptic as it all seems, it's still quite beautiful.

To clear up some of the mystery, Coultrain released the following statement about the visual:

"Here in a ceiling-less temple of worship, the alchemist transcends to a place where he's able to watch his own soul dance. As Sun Ra says, "If death is the absence of life, then death's death is life" - it is the kiss dancing in between, soaked in wine."

Whether you get that from the clip or not, you'll want to be sure that you pick up Side Effex of Make Believe right now via iTunes or Bandcamp and peep the clip right here.
