Without a doubt, D'Angelo's Black Messiah was the music event of 2014. After a 14-year wait, not only did D give the public an album that was worth the wait, he gave us one that was as timely as it was brilliant. While it's hard to imagine anyone delivering new takes on any of the album's songs so soon, DJ Dino Soccio takes on the unenviable task with an edit of jazzy number "Betray My Heart."
Bumping up the tempo and adding in some extra drums into the mix, Dino punches this jam up and makes it dance floor or lounge ready without losing any of the romantic sentiment of D'Angelo's lyrics. In fact, if we heard any DJ mix this joint into their next set, we'd probably be the furthest thing from mad. And to celebrate the new year, Dino's giving us all the opportunity to do just that, as he's released this as a free download.
