Former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett is promising a new album in the spring and, ahead of its proposed release, she’s dropped a preview of things to come.
“I’m Ready” serves up a sultry melody and lyrics that — right from the beginning — are all about desire. “I want / Your body / ‘Cause I never met somebody quite like you,” goes the first verse before stepping into the blunt terrain and near-God-like worship of this man with whom she's so infatuated. At once revelatory ("One look and you had me") and determined ("I won't stop until I make it to you"), LeToya showcases a come-hither sensuality over the track's drum-led funk fusion. None of Destiny's Stepchildren will be found here.
When she dropped “Don’t Make Me Wait” last year, it ended a nearly five-year musical silence from the singer. The repeated refrains of "I'm Ready" echo our desire (and our co-signing) to hear more new music from her very soon.
