Little Dragon Gets Chopped N' Screwed For 'Nabuma Purple Rubberband'

little dragon - chopped screwed

Have you ever sat around and wondered what Little Dragon's Nabuma Rubberband would sound like chopped n' screwed? There's a solid chance the answer is no. Well, the prayers you never had have been answered, and its good enough to make you wonder why you didn't ask for it in the first place. Our favorite Swedes have teamed up with Adult Swim to deliver a new take on their GRAMMY-nominated album. Titled Nabuma Purple Rubberband, the chopped not slopped version was remixed by Chopstar's OG Ron C and DJ Candlestick and finds the pair reworking 10 of the album's original songs, resulting in a hazy set that makes you feel like you are floating on cloud nine. Yukimi Nagano's enchanting vocals take on an almost masculine feel when they are slowed down. I hadn't even made it through the first track, "Cat Rider," before I felt transported to another world, and the rest of the project is just as trance-inducing.

Nabuma Purple Rubberband arrives just in time as the band prepares to go up against acts like Deadmau5, Röyksopp and Robyn, Mat Zo and Aphex Twin in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category at the 57th GRAMMYs on February 8th. Best of all, the album is available for free download on Adult Swim's website. So regardless of if the guys take home the honors in a few weeks, music fans will still be able to feel like winners thanks to this unexpected twist.
