Ledisi is what some would call a "phone book singer," meaning that we'd listen to her sing just about anything, including the pages of names and businesses in a phone book (remember those?). Boasting one of modern R&B's most memorable voices, it's always exciting to see the gifted singer in her element, especially when it's something as pure as just her, a mic and some guitar.
It's exactly that in the video of her acoustic performance of her original track "Rock With You," lifted from her latest EP, The Intimate Truth. Ledisi takes us into her second home, the studio, as she records the pulse-racing track. Stripped of most of the original's production, the sexy, funky track is even more raw as Led goes for broke among a throbbing bass line and stabs of guitar. Though watching most studio recordings isn't nearly as entertaining as the live performances that stars pull together for the finished product, watching the singer burst to life as she emotes, shakes, shimmies and smiles in the booth is just as interesting as being in one of her audiences. However, we still recommend that you catch Ledisi working her magic when The Intimate Truth Tour makes its way to a city near you starting at the end of the month.
