BJ The Chicago Kid Nods To 'Belly' For 'Strawberry Bubblegum'

BJ The Chicago Kid Strawberry Bubble Gum Still

Though the 1998 film Belly is known for its laughable dialogue and convoluted plot, the Hype Williams-helmed movie was amazing to watch due to its beautiful cinematography. So it was only a matter of time before someone like BJ the Chicago Kid put the imagery of the film to good use for a music video.

BJ does just that for the clip for "Strawberry Bubblegum." Some of the best scenes of the film were chosen to be included in the visual, including the opening black light club scene, the meticulously decorated interiors of the characters' homes, the car ride DMX's character takes while visiting Jamaica and, of course, the intense love scene between X and Taral Hicks. The song itself, a slow simmering come on from the Chi-Town representer, has little to do with the moments of the film that were chosen, but its grit and mood do serve as the perfect musical backdrop.

Check out the clip right here and if you're digging "Strawberry Bubblegum," it can be found on BJ's recent free EP The M.A.F.E. Project.
