Georgia Anne Muldrow Invites Us To Dance With 'Ankles' & Announces 'A Thoughtiverse Unmarred'

"Go right when you wanna go left." That's the message that soul songstress and rhymer Georgia Anne Muldrow brings with her latest single, "Ankles." The song finds Georgia riding a staticky Chris Keys-produced loop that sounds like it was lifted straight from someone's parents' record collection and repurposed for a modern audience. The eerie sound of the production is warmed up, however, with a bass line that throbs and programmed drums that energize the track and welcome Georgia's vocal. She switches back and forth between spitting and singing here as she narrates a chance meeting that just could lead to love, but first the two of them must dance. While Georgia has definitely released stronger material in the past, the hypnotic production and the slight rasp of her voice make "Ankles" a pretty intoxicating listen.

The song is the lead single from the prolific artist's just announced album, A Thoughtiverse Unmarred, which finds Georgia pairing with Chris Keys for its entirety. You can expect more numbers like "Ankles" from the upcoming project, which, according to the press release announcing the project, will find Georgia "offering a singular voice that provides conscious rhymes over dusty beats suffused with gritty drums and hypnotic loops." Sounds like our type of hype.

If you pre-order the album on iTunes, you get a free download of "Ankles" instantly. But before you rush off to do that, take a listen to the song right here. A Thoughtiverse Unmarred is scheduled to hit stores on May 19th via Mello Music Group.
