Van Hunt Introduces Us To 'A New Language'

Van Hunt Grafitti Doorway

Our boy Van Hunt is on a roll. The soul singer's already blessed us with two tracks from his upcoming The Fun Rises, The Fun Sets, "Vega (stripes on)" and "Old Hat," and he keeps the party going with yet another single, "Teach Me A New Language."

Like both "Vega" and "Old Hat," this joint plays around in funk, but this go 'round, Van goes for something a bit more seductive. A liquid bass line is accompanied by Van's tender falsetto on the verse before building and then releasing into a twangy, twinkling chorus that rescinds back to the verse again. That, coupled with Van's poetic lyrics about approaching new love, makes the song sound vintage and timeless at the same time, as if it could be played as a slow dance at a '70s prom or while cruising the highway with your lady in the present day.

At the rate that Van's been going, don't be surprised if we see a video for "Teach Me A New Language" arrive in the coming days. While we wait for news of that, check out the track right here and be sure to pre-order The Fun Rises, The Fun Sets right now on iTunes.
