Willow Smith Takes Us On A Voyage To 'Mecca'

Our favorite precocious and prolific 14-year-old Willow Smith is back at it again. After giving us the creative visual for "F Q-C #7," the wunderkind returns with new single "WEEPINGWILLOUGH/LETSGOTOMECCA." The song, a collaboration with longtime friend (and brother Jaden Smith's prom date) Mecca Kalani and producer Daniel D'Artiste, is a hypnotic number full of the mood and the metaphysical, flower child musings we've come to expect from wise-beyond-her-years Willow.

Over a looped vocal sample of Kalani and knocking drums provided by D'Artiste, Willow waxes poetic about self discovery, friendship and taking a trip to the holy land to speak with the people. While that all seems typical of Willow and rather uninteresting in print, the musical soundscape provided here makes this one of the best songs the teenager has put out to date. Even if you can't necessarily follow what's going on here lyrically, you can definitely nod your head to the undeniable vibe they've cooked up here. What's also evident is that young Willow is not only evolving with what she has to say, but also vocally, especially when listening to the bit of harmony she adds to the song's closing.

"WEEPINGWILLOUGH/LETSGOTOMECCA"  is another in a long line of releases coming from Willow's direction and it remains to be seen if we'll ever get a full-length album from the youngest of the Smith clan. Luckily, while we wait to see what she'll do, we have songs like this to enjoy. Take a listen below.
