Our girl Jill Scott has always been about uplifting the people. Her Blues Babe Foundation has spearheaded a variety of programs to help young minority students learn more about college, music and have access to resources to help them grow and thrive. With that said, it’s no surprise that Jilly from Philly has partnered with Hallmark’s Mahogany brand to establish a merit-based scholarship for college students interested in pursuing a career in the writing arts.

Two winning applicants will receive a $10,000 scholarship, along with a trip to Hallmark’s Headquarters in Kansas City, MO for an all-expenses paid workshop with Mahogany’s team of writers next summer.

In addition to the scholarship, Mahogany and the Blues Babe Foundation will also promote the importance of education and creative writing skills at Camp Jill Scott, an annual summer enrichment camp for underserved middle school students in the North Philadelphia area. Mahogany writers will serve as role models for the campers and work directly with them to help them explore their creative writing abilities.
