Nina Attal
Seen & Heard at A-Trane in Berlin, Germany

Funk lives on...in France! Petite singer/guitarist Nina Attal brought some stank up in the A-Trane (normally a tame, jazz and blues venue) with her six-piece band (including a smokin' horn section). The concert doubled as the album release for her new album WHA, which features Snarky Puppy's Cory Henry on multiple tracks on organ. I immediately noticed how her fiery vocals managed to cut through the horns, which is not easy, and caused me to Back-hand Bounce a little bit. Not only did she sing her butt off, but she managed to channel the magic of the blues from her guitar while soloing masterfully from the table tops. In a way reminiscent of a Prince concert, Nina and her band had the entire audience (who was quite stuffy), up and rocking by the end of the show. Although she's young, she's already an extremely developed, talented musician and a polished performer. She has an incredibly bright future ahead of her. Watch her music video for WHA cut "Ain't Gone," and keep up with this fresh young talent on her website and Facebook.
