KA-YU Laces Rihanna's 'Joint' With His Latest Edit

While we're still sitting here wondering when we'll get our hands on Rihanna's new album R8, producer and percussionist KA-YU stretched the upcoming album's interlude and 420 anthem "James Joint" into a fuller track. The already romantic ode to Mary Jane gets a little extra layer of love when KA-YU adds his special powers to the track with some trip-hop-inspired percussion.

The edit, as he calls it, immediately starts with RiRi's muffled vocals signing "I'd rather be smoking weed whenever we breathe..." and stays close to the original track released on her website back in April. However, you can expect this joint to be laced with a few extra ingredients to ensure you get a little more time with Rihanna's vocals and more opportunity for head nods. The edit supports her (actually) sweet vocals as she sings about the sticky substance like its a significant other.

While we've seen singles “FourFiveSeconds,” “B***h Better Have My Money” and “American Oxygen” from the project, we hope KA-YU's edit will motivate good ol' RiRi to give us a new joint to pass around. On his SoundCloud, KA-YU says, "Tell Rihanna i used this." Before you pass on the message, listen to KA-YU's take on Bad Girl Ri's "James Joint" and let us know if his edit lights up her track.
