Thundercat Brings 'The Beyond' To KCRW's 'Morning Becomes Eclectic'

Thundercat-KCRW

Thundercat has been a busy man this year. After dropping his mini-album The Beyond/Where the Giants Roam, the bassist extraordinaire has been touring extensively in support of the project and making promotional appearances. One of those promotional stops was at KCRW's venerable Morning Becomes Eclectic earlier this month, where he dropped a full set for lucky listeners. And, as they are known to do, the station also recorded the session for our viewing pleasure.

He kicks off the set with the EP's opening track "Hard Times" before moving on to "Song for the Dead," "Lone Wolf and Cub" and a few more selections from the six-song set. But he didn't just stop there, as he also threw in Apocalypse's "Heartbreaks and Setbacks" just for kicks. After the energetic session, he sat down with host Garth Trinidad to talk the EP, how he linked up with Flying Lotus and the possibilities of future albums.

If you're a fan of Thundercat, or just good music in general, then this particular jam session is definitely one you don't want to miss. And you don't have to, as long as you press play below. As well, The Beyond/Where the Giants Roam is available for purchase now and Thundercat is currently serving live doses of the collection on tour right now. Check here for dates.
