Jhené Aiko Taps Into Her Spiritual Side For 'Lyin King' Visuals

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since Jhené Aiko released her debut album, Souled Out, but indeed it has. In the time that's passed, the songstress has released quite a few artistic visuals for the set (and changed how people saw groceries for years to come). It's fitting, then, that Jhené releases a new video from the project to celebrate the milestone. And she does just that with "Lyin King."

While the song itself is about a lover who just can't seem to tell the truth, the video takes a much more esoteric approach. The songstress plays a medicine woman with visions of the future to share with an ancient culture. She walks among the people, giving them healing and visions of things to come, all the while her smoothed-out ballad provides a somewhat incongruous soundtrack. However, near the clip's end, she snags one of the warriors. But instead of showing him a good time, she shows him the ills of the world to come: war, pain and disharmony. As expected, it's a lot for the warrior to take in, but as he wakes from his stupor, he discovers the mysterious woman he just met has vanished into the night as the music switches to Jhené's "Stay Ready."

It's a different visual, for sure, but one that we've come to expect from Ms. Aiko. Take a gander at her inspired music video below.
