If you've ever witnessed an impromptu jam session, then you understand the exhilarating thrill of that comes when talented musicians let go of their inhibitions and come together simply for the love of their craft. In many cases, it's a one-time thing. But sometimes, the synergy just can't be denied and it turns into something more permanent. Such was the case for The Nth Power, born out of a 3 a.m. jam session during the 2012 New Orleans Jazz Fest. Three years later, they're still going strong and readying the release of their debut full-length album, Abundance.

Hailing from varied professional and cultural backgrounds — collectively backing the likes of Beyoncé, Chaka Khan, Dumpstaphunk, Big Daddy Kane, Maceo Parker, Groovechild, Ravi Coltrane and Matt Garrison — The Nth Power is not your average jam band. Founding member and duchess of the drums Nikki Glaspie is joined by guitarist/singer Nick Cassarino, bassist Nate Edgar, percussionist Weedie Braimah and keyboardist/singer Courtney J'Mell Smith, and each member is a contributing songwriter for the group. Edgar explains, "This band is about the power of love, about elevating and uniting ourselves and those who listen to us.”

With its empowering lyrics and positive vibes, lead single "Right Now" embodies the quintet's philosophy. Weaving a groovy tapestry of funk, soul, jazz, R&B and Latin rhythms, the band delivers a feel-good tune that showcases the breadth of their musicianship. We are loving the vibrant harmonies and soulful vocals as well. Under the direction of Jay Brown, the group's fervor is brought to life on screen through a kaleidoscopic lens with quirky animation and cosmic themes. It's a fun, engaging intro to a group that we hope will be around for a long, long time.
