Check Out 'WTF' Missy Elliott & Pharrell Williams Have Been Cookin' Up

Missy-Elliott-WTF-Still

Welcome back, Missy Elliott! After  a very lengthy hiatus, Miss Misdemeanor returns to us with brand new single and video "WTF (Where They From)." Tapping fellow Virginian Pharrell Williams to assist on the banging beat and to deliver a guest verse, "WTF" finds Missy returning to form with a club-ready track full of kinetic drums and booming 808s. Her quirky and fun wordplay is still intact as well (sample: "I'm a Big Mac / Make you wanna eat that / Like mmm mmm mmm mmm"), showing that her absence hasn't dulled her skills on the mic.

It also hasn't dulled her ability to make an eccentric, eye-popping visual. Teaming once again with frequent collaborator director Dave Meyers, the video finds Missy as unorthodox as ever. She first appears wearing a fully mirrored sweatsuit while a young dancer goes to work beside her. She of course offers many more looks throughout, each one more ostentatious than the next, as she shakes, pops and works it for the camera with a team of movers and shakers (including her blue-haired protégé Sharaya J and Les Twins). And though Pharrell himself doesn't appear in the video, his marionette mini-me handles rapping his verse. It's a bit bizarre, a bit avant-garde and all Missy.

"WTF (Where They From)" is available for streaming and download today, but you can check out the video right here.
