Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings recently brought some soulful tidings of comfort and joy to the NPR offices as they performed a beautiful set of Christmas tunes for the Tiny Desk Concert series. Shortly after releasing their It’s A Holiday Soul Party album, this spectacular band of soul revivalists led by Mama Sharon turned the office party out with their funky holiday jams. From their bluesy take on “Silent Night” to the day-by-day Hannukah breakdown on “8 Days of Hannukah” and the horn-driven “Big Bulbs,” they made sure that no seasonal stone was unturned. “Baby you got them big bulbs, flashing in your window tonight,” Sharon and her girls Saun & Starr joyfully sang at one point.
