If you weren't sure, PJ Morton is New Orleans through and through. The NOLA native always puts on for his city, even naming one of his albums after the Big Easy. It seems that the singer/songwriter wants to pay even more of a tribute to the city with his upcoming mixtape Bounce & Soul (we can't quite put our finger on why that name appeals to us). If you can guess by the name of the project, it will find PJ marrying his soulful stylings with New Orleans bounce music (think Big Freedia) and if the first release from the set, a revamp of his 2012 Lil Wayne-featuring single "Lover," is any indication, the marriage is a successful one.

It's hard to think of the original single, with its swirling synths and heartfelt lyrics, over a bounce-like beat. However, it translates quite well. With a slight tempo change and some added piano, PJ twerks it out, with the song becoming even more of a jam. The hand claps and spare cowbell, hallmarks of the bounce sound, take it from Top 40 R&B to automatic party starter. And when fellow NOLA son Wayne's hot 16 comes in, it all gels together, possibly even giving it an edge over the original.

A release date hasn't been given for Bounce & Soul, but with "Lover" making us wanna shake our things on the dance floor, we can't wait to hear what else PJ Morton has cooking. Check it out for yourself below.
