While the mainstream celebrates the rise of Bryson Tiller, there's another young R&B upstart that is making some noise by the name of Gallant. The Maryland native, who we deemed Bounce-Worthy last year, has made waves with his debut album Ology and it's lead single "Weight In Gold." But there are plenty more gems found on the album, including his jam "Miyazaki," which Gallant recently released a visual for.
Despite sounding like a '90s mid-tempo love jam, "Miyazaki" is actually about the apologetic aftermath after getting caught cheating. Gallant expertly illustrates the feeling of remorse in the song's clip. We see the 24-year-old sitting alone at a table, a bouquet of roses as the centerpiece and flames from two red candles flickering, in a dimly lit room. While this usually would suggest a romantic evening, it's anything but. Gallant broods as the camera swings around the table, making sure to focus on him closely as you watch his remorse spread as he realizes that her really messed things up this time. He eventually pours himself a glass of red wine, watching nonchalantly as it overflows on the tablecloth. Nope, not even paraphrasing Groove Theory's "Tell Me" is going to help you this time, bruh.
